2018 Resiliency Summit
On November 28-29, 2018 St. Augustine FNMI students traveled to Calgary to take part in the Resiliency Summit at the Winsport in Calgary, Alberta. The students participated in various activities throughout the 2 day workshop:
- Using teachings of the hoop dance to teach skills and lessons related to Resiliency while leaning to hoop dance.
- Exploring the 5 competencies of social emotional learning and how these skills support students in both learning and relationships.
- In-person experiences with Elders and knowledge keepers who help us to understand who we are as individuals, how our values show us in the way we live our lives, and to appreciate the rich cultural diversity we have in Alberta.
- Joined artist Adam Blacksmith as he took students through an interactive session on the frustrations, joys and teachings of art.
