Principal’s Message
Sunday, December 1 marked the first day of Advent. The significance of Advent can easily wisk by. We are busy, with full days, long lists, evenings and nights packed with multiple commitments, days of going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Advent intends us to pause, to reflect, to pray, to prepare not for impressive gifts and meals of mammoth proportions, but of the miracle and meaning Jesus brings to our lives. Christmas can only be deeply understood and felt in the intentional observance of Advent. While we hope that you will join us at St. Augustine for our many classroom and school activities from gingerbread house making, concerts, drama productions and hockey games, we greatly hope that you pause and reflect as individuals and families during Advent. As children who wait eagerly to open gifts, we know the true gift, the anticipation of the birth of Christ, whose life, death and resurrection grant us the grace to live our imperfect lives is upon us. “And Angels announced, “Into your darkness, God brings His Light.” (Luke 2)
Blessings and prayers from all of us at St. Augustine,
Kari Davidson
