Truth and Reconciliation

This week of Truth and Reconciliation a group of high school students worked on a presentation for the whole school from K-12.  We gathered together in the gym on September 27th.  Elder Geraldine Mackinaw-Oulette prayed in Cree and shared some of her wisdom and culture with the whole school as well as standing with our youth as they presented.  We had a land acknowledgement, sharing of the history and importance of Orange Shirt Day, and sharing of logos that have been chosen as the official Orange Shirt Logo.  Anne Ermineskin sang a traditional closing song.

After the gathering, students went back to their classroom to hear stories about the impact of residential schools on survivors while they participated in an activity where they all cut out feathers that will collectively be made into a hawk.
