St. Augustine School Breakfast Pilot Program
St. Augustine School has decided to start a pilot breakfast program in our school. School breakfast programs provide opportunities for students to eat healthy food and can help students focus on learning. Children and youth miss breakfast for a variety of reasons. School breakfast programs can be made available to all students and provide opportunities for students to try new foods.
May 1, 2019 was the first day of our pilot breakfast program and it will run every Wednesday until the end of the school year. Right now the breakfast program is stationed in both canteens at each school and students are welcome to a grab and go style breakfast from 8:15 - 8:40 in the morning. From now until the end of the year we will be incorporating different breakfast items such as oatmeal, dry cereal, boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, granola bars, fruit and smoothies. As this is a pilot program we are trying out different options and ideas as to what works for our schools
The future plan is to have the Breakfast Program in full operation in the new school year operating daily, depending on if the grant funding comes through for St. Augustine School. At this time we would like to thank our Parent Council for their donation to get us up and running!
